Manuela and Tuure’s Full-Service Move

Manuela Bosco and Tuure Kilpeläinen moved into their new home and chose KunnonMuutto’s turnkey moving service. This large family’s move, with all the extras, is a prime example of full-service relocation at its best. Here’s how it all went!

Before the Move: Planning, Parking Reservations, Recycling

We first exchanged emails about the progress of selling their apartment. Once things became clearer, we met Manuela and Tuure for morning coffee to discuss the details of the move and check the items to be relocated.

Next, we delivered moving boxes for items destined for recycling and the Sortti recycling station. These items were cleared out before the actual move. Afterward, we provided reusable moving boxes for packing the household belongings, along with moving labels to conveniently mark where each box should go in the new home. We also reserved street parking for the two moving days.

When planning the move, it wasn’t yet certain whether they would temporarily move into an interim home or directly to their permanent new house. This is often the case when selling a property, and we have a solution for it – interim storage. This way, only essential items need to be moved to the temporary home.

Luckily, an interim solution wasn’t necessary, and the family was able to move directly into their new home.

Day 1: Packing and Protection

Four packers began packing the family’s belongings, while two movers picked up some furniture from Manuela’s studio and Urbaani Legenda Second Hand store to deliver to the new house. The packers started with boxes and then moved on to protecting the furniture.

During the packing and moving process, Manuela and Tuure were at their new home and only saw the moving process near the end.

“We were a bit surprised to see all our scruffy furniture so nicely wrapped in blankets… At least everything arrived without a scratch – I really appreciate that,” commented Tuure after the move.

Clothing was packed into wardrobe boxes to keep it neat and wrinkle-free. Beds, the dining table, and a few chairs were left for the next day since part of the family stayed overnight and had breakfast in their old home.

Day 2: Final Preparations and Moving Day

Part of the team began loading boxes into the moving truck, while others finished protecting the remaining furniture. Mattresses were placed in protective bags with handles for easy carrying. Once the area was cleared, we carefully removed crystal chandeliers, packed them into specialized boxes, and secured smaller chandeliers using wardrobe box rods.

After loading the boxes, we moved on to the furniture. Using lifting straps, we carried a piano and a massive solid wood cabinet into the truck. Finally, we loaded unusually shaped items, along with attic and storage room belongings.

Moving in Through the Window

The new home was unique – the second floor was accessible only via narrow spiral stairs. Furniture had to be brought in through the window. To address this, Manuela and Tuure’s renovation crew set up a winch, which allowed us to successfully hoist furniture inside.

As always, we protected the floors with mats, carried or winched items inside, and began unwrapping the furniture. The family chose to unpack the boxes themselves.

A Year-Long Moving Project

As the move neared its end, we asked Manuela and Tuure how they felt about completing such a major project.

“It feels surreal… This move has been a long process, lasting over a year. It’s such a relief. Moving involves so much behind-the-scenes work that I’m still buzzing a little. But the move itself went incredibly smoothly,” Manuela shared.

“This was a proper move – that’s for sure!” added Tuure.

Moving Is One of Life’s Most Stressful Events

According to research, moving is one of the most stressful life events. Our top priority is to make your move as painless as possible while minimizing environmental impact. We clearly and transparently explain all aspects of our services, pricing, and insurance responsibilities in our quotes. Our goal is always to be Europe’s best moving company in both customer service and sustainability.

After the Move

A move doesn’t end when the last protective blanket is removed from the sofa. We often help with tasks like setting up TVs and computers, hanging clothes in wardrobes, and installing light fixtures. If the family chooses to unpack the boxes themselves, we’ll later collect the rental boxes.

When moving into a larger home, there might be a need for new furniture – we can help deliver that too. Sometimes, even months later, questions arise about the move, and we’re here to help.
